Question
Hi Dimitri,I understand that there are mint marks below the eagle on this coin the marks on this one look like E on left side and B on the right side. Do these marks affect the value? Thank you
Jim Gibson

Answer
Hi Jim,
Unless you have a particularly rare date and mint mark, the mint mark will only have a difference in value  for high grade coins.
In the case of an 1874-B or 1874-E, the B mark is the better of the two, but both are fairly common. For an average, well used coin the value is around $5 for either one. For nice, high grade coins with luster the values jump up dramatically.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
