Question

German Marks
My uncle has a set of 1911 German Marks: 2,3 & 5 marks  They appear to be un-circulated, in the original container.  Do you know what they'd be worth today?

Answer
Hi Sandra,
I can certainly tell you what the coins are worth, but there is one small problem. The side of the coins that is pictured is the same for a few different German states that issued such coins in that year.
I would need to see the other side in order to know which coins you have.
You can just upload another picture to a follow-up question.
Thanks!

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
