Question

Karolus Primus Coin
Nobody can seem to tell me anything about this coin. i have people all over the pacific northwest looking. can you help?

Answer
Hi Anthony,
This is unfortunately a modern reproduction of an otherwise pretty scarce Bohemian (Prague) silver groshen coin. The real thing would be worth upwards of $100 in this condition, but the quality is much to fine for what the genuine article looks like. This one was obviously made with modern methods and materials.
The only value would be as a novelty, which would be minimal.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
