Question
Can you give me  approximate value of a 1860 coin that says 1, then below 1860.then below that, an A. Other side has strange  2 headed creature bearing coat of arms and  holding stick. Looks like it has wings.
Circular wording is:  K K OESTERREICHISCHE   SCHEIDEMUNZ. I think coin is in very good condition.
Thank you

Answer
Hi Lee,
This is an Austrian 1 kreuzer coin. Although they are pretty common from this year and with an A mint mark, it would be worth around $5 in good condition. If the coin has no wear at all and riginal red luster, the value will be up to 10 times that.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
