Coin and Paper Money Collecting/US coins

Question
Hello, I have just recently found my dad's coin collection, he passed away over 20 years ago and I found it in a safety deposit box he had that we just opened.  There are many US and Canadian coins in it..When I checked a few places online it loos like I may have some valuable coins.  There are, just to name a few, 4-Peace 1 Dollar coins dated, 1935, 1922,1925 & 1923  then 2 - Morgan Dollars dated 1890 and 1921, all in very good condition no wear on them,  then they are many quarters and half dollars in all different dates, there's even a 1903 Liberty nickel that is worn a bit.  There's a 3Cent small silver coin dated 1912 with George the 5th on it and a silver 10cents coin dated 1955 from British Carribean territories and a 5 Centavos dated 1946.
This is just a few of what I have here and I really don't know where to start and who to go to with this..
Thank you so much for you time
Wendy

Answer
Wendy,

Assuming you are looking to sell the collection, I suggest you find a local coin show, take a sampling of what you have, talk to several dealers at the show, and get offers.  The go with the one you feel comfortable with and set up a meeting to sell the whole collection.

You can find coin show listings here:

I hope this helps,

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
