Question
im just wondering if you can tell me if i have a 10 baht coin if it would be worth something if both sides of the coin are upsidedown.. i mean you look at one side of the coin and its good but if you turn it over it is upsidedown????

Answer
Hi Jen,
This is normal. Coins are made with two different alignments. When both sides are in the same direction this is "medal" alignment, and when they are upside down from one another, it's "coin" alignment.
Which one is on a coin usually depends on the country the coin is from.
It is actually virtually impossible for a coin to accidentally have one side upside down.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
