This is a fascinating coin. The date shown 1917 ss equivalent to the Arabic 1335 minted alongside (ie the Arabic translation) The Hebrew Daniel (Old Testament Daniel 12.11) quotes 1335 as the defining time for the Hebrew people. In 1917 General Allenby entered Jerusalem on foot, liberating it from Gentile occupiers. This coincides with Jesus' prophecy in the New Testament (Luke 31.24) "Jerusalem will be trampled down by Gentiles until the period of the Gentiles comes to an end". His rather more sobering prophecy is "this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place" v32 (ie the end as we know it). The youngest of that generation must now be 95 (as of 11/12/2012). Your coin will prove rather more sensational than the Mayan calandar.

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
