Question

Coin
it is a copper colored coin the size of a nickel, thin as a penny.  It is 1976, i think.  It has the words eaahnikh  ahmokpatia on the back on it, which i think is greek.  The front has a picture of a man with something that looks to be a night cap on with tassels on the end.  He has a mustache.  The back has a picture of a clipper ship on it, it also has the number 1 on it between the 19  and 84  date.  Under the clipper ship are the words as best i can see that read apaxmh.  the front also has a long name on it which i cant make out, it appears to read, konztantinoz kanaphx.  This may not be the correct spelling. What would the value be? Thnak u for your time.

Answer
Hi Rocco,
This is a 1 drachma from Greece. It is a common coin with many millions that were made. They are worth a couple of dollars to collectors, but only in perfect condition with shiny luster. One in used condition such as the coin in the picture would not have any real collector value.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
