Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1889 dollar O mint

Question
I have several coins. I have a handful of morgan dollars in the late 1800s and some with the O mint (above).

I also Have 1977 quarters, dimes and dollars- uncirculated but not in package. As well as some 1779-1976 centenial uncirculated ones all from the S mint.

I have a slew of dimes marked 1964- some with mints marked some without, Dimes in the early 40's and buffallo nickels.

Can you give me an idea of what they're worth and how to store them. I've also collected interesting coins as a kid with my dad and I've worked at a bank for the last 12 years and have obtained a lot of coins over the years (mostly half dollars in the early 60's and prior- I collect those because of the silver is higher) and have ran into the morgan dollars which is something new for me.  Any books I can get with the coins in them, mints, etc.?

I can send a picture if that's necessary, I'm really looking for approx. value and best storage :)

Thank you :)

Answer
Melessa,

Common-date circulated Morgan dollars are worth $25-$28 each.

1977 quarters and dimes have no significant collector value.

1977 dollars in uncirculated condition are worth about $2.00 each.

1976-S quarters are worth about 75 cents each -- however if they are the silver ones, they are worth about $5.00 each.

The 1964 dimes and the early 1940's dimes are worth about $2.00 each.

Common-date Buffalo nickels are worth about 50 cents each.

As for storage, it doesn't sound like you have anything extremely rare, so storing them in coin tubes (or even clean pill bottles) should be sufficient protection.

A great overall book for U.S. coins is called the Red Book, and can be purchased from Amazon here :
