1958p Lincoln cent
Mr.Fern I want to know if this Lincoln cent was a variety/error,Lincoln's lips appears to be doubled as well as the date. I do not see anything flat and it is rounded, sorry i can only send 1 image

Answer
Hi Darrick:

Thanks for the opportunity to answer your question.

I really can not pick up the doubling very well from the photo you sent. I'm not current in all of the known or cataloged doubled dies. Some types of machine doubling can be very deceiving, and look very much like die doubling. Believe it or not, there are hundreds of Lincoln Cent doubled dies. Only a few are truly valuable. I'm going to suggest you contact John Wexler, one of the best experts in the field of US doubled dies. Send him an image of the coin for his opinion.

You can reach him at the e-mail address found at: http://doubleddie.com/1957.html

You may also want to check out this site on doubled dies and other varieties on the Lincoln Cent at: http://www.lincolncentresource.com/index.html

Hope this helps. Please remember to go to the experts site to rate this answer. And check the nomination box on the rating page below any comments you may have.

Thank You and Good Luck in your collecting. Let me know what you find out.
