Question
QUESTION: Hello

I have a coin that has an eagle on one side and on the other side it has big 5 in the middle this coin is from 1899 and was wandering the value of this coin.

Also I have a British penny from 1910. I was also wandering the value of this coin.

I have a German coin worth 15 pfennig and has a man on the other side with C.S.B from 1917.  I was also wandering the value of this coin.

Thanks

ANSWER: Hi John,
The first one sounds like a 5 pfennig from the German Empire. Value for coins of this type would usually depend on condition and also the mint mark. You can find the mint mark underneath both of the eagle's talons on the back. In this case, all of the mints for 1899 coins are common and worth just a dollar or two in circulated condition. In nice uncirculated condition they are worth up to $20.

The second one is also fairly common. Value ranges from a dollar or two for a well circulated coin, going up to around $10 for one with only minor wear. Mint condition coins are harder to find and usually run $25 or so for one with brown surfaces and anywhere from $50 to $100 for one with red luster.

The third coin is either a token or a "notgeld" coin which were issued by many German cities and towns after World War I. I would need to see a clear picture of this one to identify it. You can attach one picture per question on this site.

Thanks again for the question! =)

QUESTION: Thank you for answer the question before. I really appreciate it.
The 5 pfennig mint mark is F. I have another coin that on one side it has wheat that is crossing each other. The mint mark is A.  On the other side it has a 5 in the middle.  With words around the 5.  Also this coin is from 1936.

Answer
Hi again John,
Sorry for the delay in answering your question.
The coin you mention is a 5 reichspfennig from the Weimar Republic period of German history, in between the world wars. It's also fairly common with many millions made. The value range is the same as for the other 5 pfennig coin you previously asked about.
Thanks again! =)

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
