Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Identifying A Coin

Question
After my father passed away last year, I've been going through the foreign coins he left me and the ones I've collected over the years trying to get them in some semblance of order. Most of these are easily identifiable, or can be looked up on the internet, except for one. It's a modern four sided, aluminum coin with what appears to be a date palm on one side and the number 1 on the other. The script looks like Middle Eastern writing, but I don't have a clue as to what country. I've tried Googling it by description, with no luck. I was hoping you might be able to help me. I've attached the picture of the coin.

Answer

Hi Richard,
There is no picture attached to the question, but the coin you describe sounds like an Israeli 1 new agora coin. The coin is actually round, but the inner design is four sided so I'm pretty sure this is the right coin. Here is a link to one for confirmation: http://cgi.ebay.com/Israel-1980-1-New-Agora-UNC-KM106-/380292991386?pt=LH_Defaul...
The image on the coin is indeed a date palm.
Thanks for the question! =)

CommentThank you, Dmitry. I appreciate you getting an answer for me and you're right, the coin is round. I guess it was the four sided recessed area of the interior design that had me confused, kind of like an optical illusion. Well, now the collection is complete. I've got them all cataloged and named. Thanks again.

In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
