Question
Norway 1730 8 skilling
Norway 1730 8 skilling
I had listed this coin on ebay as a coin from Denmark  I was then informed by a bidder it was from Norway. I was then informed by a bidder it was from Denmark.
Can you help identify it's county of origin?
Thanks
Joe

Answer
Hi Joe,
This one is indeed from Denmark, so you were right the first time around. Norwegian coins had a similar design, but would have crossed hammers below the date.
The Norway version would actually be a bit more valuable.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
