Chinese Silver Coins
Hi, I've got 2 coins from my grandpa

The first one is 20 cents from Year 1912 KWANG-TUNG PROVINCE (中華民國元年, which is I believe it is "The first year of the Republic of China" while

The second one is 1 Mace 44 Candareens from KWANG-TUNG PROVINCE with dragon on one side. I'm not sure the year of this one but it has the words "宣統元寳"

My grandpa said they should be valued. Would you please advise how much are these worth ??

Tks a lot

Answer
Hi Vivien,
The good news is that the coins appear to be genuine. The bad news is that these particular coins from Kwangtung province are some of the most common Chinese coins from this period.
Even though the Chinese coin market is very hot right now, these coins are worth between $20 and $30 for the pair.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
