Coin and Paper Money Collecting/2 sided quarter

Question
Hi Dan,    I have a 2 sided quarter with the same print on each side.   It's a 1990 D with both sides exactly the same.  Wonder if this is of value ?   Thanks

Answer
Sorry Barbara, but that coin did not come from the mint like that.  Somebody took two normal quarters, altered them, and glued the pieces back together.  If you use a strong magnifier and examine the area just inside the raised rim on both sides of the coin, you will find a seam on one side where the coins are joined together.  These are actually being mass-produced these days, and sell regularly in novelty shops and on eBay for a couple dollars.

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
