Question
I have a few coins from my late husband's collection that I am unable to identify.  I have spent many hours on the internet trying to find duplicates/value.  Please help me.  The ? front side has a profile of a narrow faced balding man.  It looks very similar to Sun Yat Sen, but the back side has a circle of oriental characters w/ two larger characters in the center.  I can not find a date. This only similar coin I compare to, has a boat on it's back ,so I can not be sure of it.
The second coin has flowers and two chinese characters on one side and the other has a circle of chinese characters w/ an open flower blossom in the center.
I hope you are able to identify these for me, thanks.

Answer
Hi Barbara,
There are so many different types of Chinese coins, replicas and fantasy novelty pieces that it would not be possible to give you any info without seeing clear pictures of both sides of the coins. You can e-mail me pictures directly at BetweenEarthnSky@yahoo.com or attach them to follow-up questions on this site.
Thanks! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Experience

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
