Question
I have a OTTO KOENIG VON BAYERN with a head and d under the head on one side of the coin and on the other side a bird with a crown and DEUTSCHES REICH 1907  FUNF MARK  ..on it.  Can you tell me about the coin?

Answer
Hi Onie,
This is a 5 mark coin from the German State of Bavaria, struck in .900 purity silver.
They were minted in fairly low numbers, and value can be quite high for a coin in excellent condition.
Coins in average condition with visible wear, but all parts of the design visible, are generally worth between $35 and $50. I cannot give an exact value as I have not seen the coin and the condition is not mentioned in your question.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
