Answer
Hi Thomas:

Thanks for the question.

I checked eBay and found several similar slabbed PR 70 pieces offered for between $333 and $425, so your piece is likely worth around $300 to a dealer in a trade. I personally believe any modern day "hyped" bullion based coin shouldn't be dealt with. My choice would be to trade your "special" gold coin for generic U.s. gold or silver bullion coins, not the 5 oz silver coin. You'd get more for your value of the coin.

Gold Price Closed last at $1,856.40, while Silver Price Closed at $41.57. You need to make the decision to trade. Both have a place in an investment portfolio. Leading expert, FRANKLIN SANDERS, states "Gold's primary trend is up, target at least $3,130.00 and silver's primary is up, target 16:1 gold/silver ratio, or $195.66".

You may want to check US coins and currency listings on eBay from time to time to see if your piece is listed what this type of item may bring.

If you live close to a local shop, they should offer an opinion as to the value at no charge. Remember, should you choose to sell your coins, get at least two estimates from professional coin dealers (PNG). I've listed a link for you to find them in your area. Dealers normally pay between 80% to 90% of retail for bullion type gold items they want. In an auction, you can set the price, and potentially get more.

Thank You and Good Luck in your collecting.
