Question
Dear Sir, in my search for that Treasure. This time I actually paid for a Roll of Nickels (.50 cents, due to GOD's guidance). The moment she handed me the roll...I saw something irregular in the roll.A Gold outer linning in one of the Nickels.I knew there is something exciting there....!

When at home,I opened the roll and....1964 Brass Plated Nickel.Front is plated Brass,Outer linning is Brassy, and the Back is showing that it was like half and half. Its in G-4,to condition.
What did I find? Does it hold any collectors value?
I did try the Net,and just gave up...nothing shows up,even Ken Potters site...null of this subject or type of Strike.

From another Roll,I found a Nickel with higley irregualr plating.A 2010 P Nickel. If you look at it.It looks like you are holding a PLASTIC COLOR (Creamy-light-Gray) Color. But,its Metal. All over Front,Back,Edges...all that color.Extreemly fine coating, not like a paint job by a amatuer.Due to,that will leave a bit a residue and blobing etc.Have you heard of the this before?
God Bless.

Answer
Hi Beck,

Unfortunately, neither nickel would have become the way they are because of something that happened at the mint.  That is why you cannot find anything about them on the internet -- it's just something done to them by somebody, or caused by exposure to something.

Considered altered or damaged, they have no collector value.

Sorry Charlie,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
