Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1987 silver penny

Question
I have read about a few inquiries about other 1987 silver pennies and have found one of my own.  It is not attracted to a magnet.  Any ideas what this could be?

Answer
Gianna,

Most of the time this will occur when someone "plates" the penny with a silver metal.  The only other option is that it was struck on a planchet that was intended for a dime...which is rare.  I would weigh the penny, and if it weighs around 3.11 grams or more then you will know it was simply plated.
