Question
1991_P_2x_3x_END_OF_BOTH_SIDES_MEM
1991_P_2x_3x_END_OF_BO
I previously submitted a question (2012-01-19 1964 P 1 Ct) and wanted to provide a rating but could not find the button referred to !

On this submission, there is some unusual activity left of the CA of America and down the right side of the memorial.

Is this some form of doubling and is it common or uncommon ?

Looking forward to your response.

Answer
David:

I'm not an expert on all doubled die coins. There are six to seven different classes of doubling. Your cent appears to have some doubling characteristics. This could be die doubling or an effect caused by the striking of the copper-plated zinc planchet. Most real doubled die errors are not valuable. A few major varieties can be worth thousands. The site below will give you a good reference.

Your coin should be looked at by a expert. A friend and die error specialist I recommend you contact is John Wexler. His site is: http://www.doubleddie.com/

You may want to check ebay listings under US coins in the error category to see what these die errors are going for. You may also want to check out these links on error coin values:

Sometimes people try to fool you into thinking you have an error coin. Here are some sites you can visit to see examples of non-error coins:

To rate an answer. Go to the "Thank/rate the expert" button and click. You are allowed to rate four areas of the reply, and please notice the question about a "Nomination" for Expert of the Month. I would really appreciate your "Yes", which I hope you believe that I deserve. Thank you for asking. If you have any more questions, I'll try and accommodate you. Please recommend me to your friends that collect coins.

Thank You and Good Luck in your collecting.
