Question
I have come across a 2000 d penny that has a marking  on the front of the penny that looks like the state of connecticut, with ct in the middle of it- on the backside the word America - the last a is almost non existant the building on the right side is blurred. looks like if you had copper foil and tried to smooth it. what do you think

Answer
Yes, Betty, these novelty pennies were made with all states at various times.  They were made by taking real cents and stamping the states maps and initials into them.  I think they were sold as novelties for around 99 cents or so.  They really have no resale value that I know of, although on occasion you will see some of them being sold on eBay (www.ebay.com),  Jim
