Hello,

I have some U.S. Silver Dollars and curious as to their worth. They have been in my family a long time, but I may be interested in selling them. I have 3 coins that are encased in square cardboard with plastic coverings. These are 1888, 1889 & a 1922 Peace Coin. They all appear uncirculated, although I'm no expert on evaluating the condition. I also have a 1921 coin not encased, tarnished, but in excellent condition. There do not appear to be any mint marks on any of them. I've looked online but the value range is wide and confusing. I could use some help & direction as to their value.

Hi Harold,

The 1888, 1889 are Morgan Dollars, and common dates.  In mint condition they range from $30 to about $125.  However, we can not determine what level (grade) of uncirculated they are.  They need to be physically inspected.  Chances are that there are a few marks on the coin known as bagmarks.  That diminishes the value.  I would guess that your coins are worth in the $30-40 range.

The 1922 is also a common date.  These in mint condition sell for about $30 unless they are GEM quality.
Is the 1921 a Peace Dollar?  If so, they start at about $50 and go up from there.  A 1921 Morgan is common and fall into the same category as the others, $30-40
