Question
I will make it simple when I was in the military back in the 66 to 70 was stationed in Germany. I picked up a lot of pocket change an put it up till now. I have two nederland 2 1/2 g 1960 an 1961 both have been in circulation an are in good to fair condition.

Answer
Hi Douglas,
These are 2 1/2 guilder coins, made of .720 purity silver. There were 10 million+ of each year made, so they generally do not sell for a collectible premium. At present they each are worth around $10 in silver bullion.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.

Experience

Collector of world coins since early childhood. Access to a variety of auction records and reference material. You can also find me on Facebook.
