Answer
Hi Carolyn,

Thank you for the pictures, but unfortunately they are not magnified enough to tell what kind of doubling you have.

I suspect it is the kind of doubling that is caused by the wearing out of the striking dies.  Even though the seller calls it a double die, the following eBay listing actually has die erosion doubling (AKA strike doubling) :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/170900009378

You can see that coin only sold for $1.64 with free shipping and probably about 75 cents in eBay/PayPal fees.

So if your dime has the same type of doubling, you can see it has little value.

There is an online article about the different types of doubling here :

I hope this helps,

Dan

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
