I have 2 coins ; the first one says E-PLURIBUS-UNUM on the front side and does not have a date on the back side it says ONE TROY OUNCE SILVER TRADE UNIT .999 fine silver, and the other one has the statue of liberty head on it and says LIBERTY on the top and has a miss spelling on the bottom that says IN GOD WE TRVST with a date of 1923 and has an eagle on the back and says UNITED STATES OF AMERICA E-PLURBUS UNUM one dollar. can you tell me anything about these coins and what they maight be worth? Thank you very much.

Answer
Hi Tracy,

The first one is not technically a coin, but rather a silver round, used for buying and selling bullion silver.  It's value will be whatever the current value of silver is -- right now that's about $21

The second one is a Peace Dollar.  These were minted from 1921 to 1935, and are known as Peace Dollars because of the word PEACE on the back at the bottom.  The use of the letter "V" is not actually an error -- it's just the way they did it in that era -- you will find the same usage within lettering on government buildings of that era, and on the Standing Liberty Quarter :

Current value for this coin is about $22

I hope this helps,

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
