Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1886 silver dollar

Question
It is a Liberty's head 1886 silver dollar with no mint code below the bow. Its condition is, to me, very good. All the small details are clear. Though a novice, I see no circulation wear. Is it a Morgan, where was it minted, and what might I expect to sell it for on the open market?

Answer
Hi Richard,

Yes, it is a Morgan Dollar -- that was the only type minted that year.

Having no mintmark means it was made at the main mint in Philadelphia.  Only branch mints (like New Orleans and San Francisco) got mintmarks on their coins back then.

If it has just a very light touch of circulation wear -- call its grade Almost Uncirculated -- it will be worth about $25

If it has no wear at all -- call its grade Uncirculated -- its value will likely be in the $35 to $50 range, depending on the quantity and severity of the contact marks it has.
