Question
What is the value of the above coin.It is copper and in very good shape ..It has a mint letter of "K" which I reviewed and it said not many were made. The lettering is clear and the eagle is very visual.

Thanks for you help.

Answer
Hi Santo,
My apologies for the delay in answering your question. The 1854K 5 centimes is actually one of the more common, with over 13 million of them having been made with this date and mint mark. In good shape with only light wear and no other problems it's worth $10-$15 auction and $20-$30 retail direct from a dealer.
Thanks for the question! =)

Expertise

My specialty is world coins from the 18th to 20th centuries, primarily non-US foreign coins and related areas such as errors and exonumia (tokens, medals, etc.). I can answer questions relating to identification, grading, selling, preservation and evaluation of such items. In addition to catalog value, I can give you the practical market value and trends for specific types of coins. I will also take questions regarding counterfeits (both modern and antique) and on how to identify them. I am NOT knowledgeable in paper money/banknotes, ancient or "shipwreck" coins. Thank you.
