Coin and Paper Money Collecting/is my coin rare

I have a non minted seated 1872 Philadelphia silver dollar that has 14 stars.  the coin is in excellent condition.  I have also found out that is it indeed silver but do not know the value.. can you please advise

Hi Mary,

Without seeing it, I cannot give you a precise value.  However, in decent circulated condition, with no problems, it will be worth about $300 to $400.

There are a lot of counterfeits of this coin though.  So you will need to get it authenticated -- even if it is silver.

Check to see if there are any upcoming coin shows in your area, where you can take the coin to be examined first-hand by several dealers, or possibly submit it to a coin grading service, like :

Good luck,

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.
