Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Old Foreign Coins

We found several old foreign coins in my aunt's attic. How would I go about selling them? I have done limited research on them and have a general idea of what they are worth, but do not want to just give them away.  Any assistance would be appreciative.

Hi Emilee,

You could try taking them to a coin show to see if any dealers are interested.  You'll have better competition/prices for the more desirable pieces, but limited interest for the common stuff.  Check for listings of coin shows.

You could also try Ebay, you MAY get more money selling to collectors, but you'll also have a lot more time, effort, and fees involved with selling there.

I hope this helps,

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
