Question
QUESTION: Hi Dr.Ranatunga,

Just wondering how much 1945 King GVI 50 Rupees note worth?. Are they any replicas of this note?

ANSWER: As with all notes value Depends on the condition of the Note.
SCWPM says  US$175 VG and US$700 for VF and does not list price for Unc.
Maybe higher in Sri Lanka, but 1945 is the more common date.

There is a few sellers on eBay selling replica, but it should be easy
to confirm if it is real since the replica I know of don't have a watermark
and microprinting on note is poor.
I have seen forgeries (not of this note) with watermarks so it is not impossible
to create one. Then you probably would need to look at microprinting on note.

Can you please point out to me few genuine notes 100,10,2,1

Answer
From an image on the web one can never be sure a currency not is genuine
since you can't see security feature like watermarks etc.
You need to trust in the Guarantees the eBay gives you on purchases.

The Joy of collecting is to wait till you get a good offer and buy it.
Never rush into buying.

If you are in a rush for whatever reason, then look to buy a collection.
I am a collector, not a dealer. I provide information on currency notes.
I don't keep close track of current prices. Look at SCWPM published by Krause.
or buy the Ceylon and Sri Lanka chapters of
http://www.banknotenews.com/banknote_book/banknote_book.php

When will you be in Sri Lanka, I can put you in touch with some dealers.
