Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1983 gold plated Kennedy half dollar

I also have the 1983 gold plated Kennedy half dollar with the two dates 1960 and 1980 stamped on the coin.  These coins also came with a certificate from CSOA, Collectors Society of America with a serial number for each Kennedy  Half Dollar. If these are replicas why is the certificate from CSOA issued?

Hard to give an exact answer without a photo of the coins in question, but from your description, both are post Mint alterations. The plating on both coins was added after the coins left the mint facilities. In the case of the "Certified" coin, it would actually be considered as PMD, or post Mint damage, where the coin had those two dates punched into the coin. The "Society" is issuing a piece of paper saying they "certified" having the alteration made, and if it is numbered, how many they made. In my opinion, while conversation pieces, they have no added numismatic value.
