Coin and Paper Money Collecting/1978 silver colored penny

Question
I was hoping you might have some history on a coin like this since I had seen that you said you've bought several of them when you answered another post some years ago. Everything I've found so far on the internet thus far hasn't answered anything except that these pennies usually weigh less than a current day penny. The one I have actually weighs about half a gram more. Thank you for your time and hope to hear from you soon.

Answer
Hi Ray,
Considering you coin is heavier, my guess is that you have a normal Cent that has been electroplated either with silver, or some other "silver" colored element.

An aluminum Cent would weigh less.   I have seen many electroplated cents, it seems that electroplating has become a science experiment in some schools.
