Question
I found a Bufflo nickel. can't really see the date, it looks like 1923.  there is the letter F under the date if that helps.  Would like to know what it may be worth.  Lee

Answer
Dear Lee. Indian Head or Buffalo Type nickles as they are often called were made from 1913 to 1938 and are very popular with collectors. The little F beneath the date is for James E. Fraser, the coins designer. There are two different 1923 nickles. Look under the words Five Cents on the reverse under the buffalo. If there is no mint mark it was made in Philadelphia and would cost you maybe a couple of dollars used. If there is a little S mint mark it was made in San Francisco and would cost you $3.00 to $5.00 used. Brand new they are both very expensive coins. Regards. NSB.
