Question
I HAVE A COPPER TOKEN A LITTLE SMALLER THAN A DIME WITH LUXURY TAX AT TOP, TOKEN AT THE BOTTOM, A STAR IN THE MIDDLE AND A 5 ON EITHER SIDE ON THE FRONT.
ON THE BACK IT HAS ALABAMA STATE AT TOP, TAX COMMISSION ON BOTTOM, A STAR IN THE MIDDLE AND A 5 ON EITHER SIDE.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT MAY BE?

Answer
Hello Lynn, you have an Alabama tax token.  These were issues usually back in the 50s and 60s to be given as change for payment of state sales taxes, I think usually when the tax was less than one cent.  They usually are not worth all that much, unless you have a special rare kind, and I am not the expert to help you out on that.  You might try going to www.ebay.com and doing a search to see if anyone is selling a piece like yours.  Or go to www.google.com and do a search for something like "Alabama tax token" and see if you find any dealer sites who sell tax tokens.  Good luck, Jim Lawniczak
