Question
I am just starting to get interested in coins my grandpa has passed on some coins to me and it looks like he did some of his own research with coin books which I have, but I was wondering if you can tell me some web sites or where I can get some information without going to a perfessional. I want to do my own research. I have coins dating from 1798 to present. So you could help me out that would be much appreciated. Thank-you

Answer
Dear Cody. Buy yourself a "Red Book", A Guide Book of United States Coins" by R. S. Yeoman published by Whitman Publishing (800 546-2995). At the end of each chapter there is a bibliography on each type of coin. The Red Book is about $20, but the speciality books are quite pricy, so join the American Numismatic Association (800 367-9723) for $33 and they have a neat monthly magizine you will like and a lending library by mail. Also, the ANA is a non-profit group of coin collectors, so you meet people just like yourself and have a lot of fun. Good luck. Regards. N.
