Question
I have a coin that has a ladiy with a bun and above it says trans mississippi exposition Omaha.  The date is 1848. Can you give any information about this coin. There is a figure (possibly Indian) spearing a buffalo on the back.  All i can find is 1898 but this coin is dated 1848.  Thanks.

Answer
Hello Bonita,
What you have is not a coin, it is a medal.  Coins must have a denomination such as 50 cents, $1 etc.
I have never heard of the Trans Mississippi Exposition.  Maybe do a search on the net for info on the exposition and that will lead you to the medal and the purpose for which it was made.
Sorry I could not be of more help.

Regards,
