Question
I have a Year 2000 Sacagewea dollar coin, my friend told me it could be worth a lot. I doubt it but need to Know how much it's worth, how long I should hold onto it, who to sell it to if it is worth anything, and if it's even worth selling it. Thank you.

Answer
Hello Florence,

There were millions of these coins made at all 3 of the U.S. Mints. There is no gold in the coins or any other precious metal. They were made from 2000 to 2006 and released into circulation.
They are very common and trade at face value unless you have a high grade uncirculated or proof specimen.
They did in 2007 start the Presidential series of dollar coins out of the same metal used for the Sacagawea coin.
If you do think you have a uncirculated or otherwise unique coin feel free to write me back, I am always willing to help.
