Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Encased Indian Head Penny

Question
I just came across this encased Indian Head Penny from the 1901 Pan American Exposition in Buffalo.  This one does not look quite like the one on their website.  It has 2 four leaf clovers on the front at about 2 and 10 o'clock, with the words, "I am your mascot" at the top, and Souvenir Pan-American Exposition at the bottom with a tiny four leaf clover at each end.  The back has a horse shoe, and the words, "Lucky Penny Pocket Piece" at the top, and "I bring good luck" at the bottom.  Can you tell me anything about this?  It was in a box of "stuff" my uncle sent home with me.
Thanks very much,
Sheila

Answer
Hello Shelia,

I know a lot about coins but your piece is a specialized field. It does sound like an authentic piece. There were many types made for this famous exposition.

Jim Lawniczak, at this site, is much more informed and better to answer your question about your encased coin (lucky cent).
These are advertising and event tokens with coins, usually cents, struck with the token.
In fact he has published several articles on encased coins, in particular the encased coins of the 1901 Buffalo Pan American Exposition
Ask Jim at;

I hope this information Helps.

Good Luck
