Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Establishing Coin Value

Question
I recently discovered a wide variety of US coins while cleaning out my grandfathers attic. I would like to know if they are of any value. Some that stand out to me: 1909 half dollar, 1896 dollar, 1879 dollar, 1950 franklin half dollar, 1858 flying eagle penny, 1925 stone mountain half dollar, 1890,1892,1894,1896,1899,1903 and 1907 indian pennies, 1839 1/2 gulden,1936 indian and buffalo nickel,1942 liberty half dollar, 1883,1900 and 1910 nickels with the roman numeral V on the back. I know that condition is a factor but would you be able to tell me if I'm on to anything? Thank you for your time and consideration.

Answer
Hi Jeffrey,

All the coins could be valuable depending upon their condition, but most likely the common stuff like the nickels and Indian head cents are worn which makes them worth $1-2 each.  The coins with the most potential from this list are the Silver dollars and the 1858 flying eagle cent.  It all boils down to condition and it is really hard to do online.

The best coin grading website is www.coingrading.com and explains the basics you need to know.  A ok price guide is http://www.pcgs.com/prices/ but you will have to remember this is retail prices and not wholesale ones when you go to sell to a dealer.  if you have a local coin dealer in your town, you might want him to take a look and just help you grade them.  I hope this helps somewhat.
