Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Gold Buffalo Question

Question
Good afternoon, I recently purchased a couple of the new Gold Buffalo coins and they arrived in a thin plastic sleeve with the words U.S. Mint stamped on it. My question is: Can I remove the coins and place them in an Air-Tite Coin holder or will they loose value by opening the sleeve?

Answer
Hi Lee,
There are 2 different rules of thought.  Some people prefer the original mint packaging but they have had problem with the new packages.  It seems that when exposed to the cold, the packages open up.
My feeling is that you are buying the coin, not the package.  Will they "lose value", remember that they are worth their weight plus a small premium.  Whether coins in secondary market holders will be worth what original holders are worth is anyone's guess.  So, to on the safe side, I would say leave them as they are.
