Question
Okay, so I read some of ur responses and I went to one of the websites u gave for values...but I dont understand, my grandma just gave me a bunch of old silver dollars I want to know how much they're worth.
First of all I have 2 silver dollars, theres a 1961 and a 1969 the 1961 is larger than the other one. they both have two people in a boat going past an island.
She also gave a couple 50 cent coins. Theres a 1973, 1965, and a 1937. They all have the same picture on it, two horses around a crown and a banner or something like that. the 1937 has Georgivs VI on the back, and the other two have Elizabeth II.
If you could tell me what these are probably worth, thatd be great. And also, if you know a website that is more for people who dont know anything about coins thatd be great.

Answer
Hi Ashley,

You left out an important detail -- you have Canadian coins.

Most of my responses are related to American coins.

Value of your Canadian coins :

1961 dollar : $5.00 (partial silver)
1969 dollar : $1.00 (not silver)
1937 half : $5.00 if well-worn -- $15.00 if lightly worn
1965 half : $3.00 (partial silver)
1973 half : $0.50 (not silver)

Alot of information can be gained from reading posts in the newsgroups :

I hope this helps,

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
