Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Lincoln Cent

Question
I have a 1955 Lincoln wheat cent, which looks like it is plated or is clad.  Do you have any information on this type of thing?

Answer
Hello, David, don't really know much about this; sounds like it was probably plated after it was minted.  Keep in mind there are a lot of curious little boys out there and they'll try all sorts of things out with coins just to see what happens.  You may want to try going to www.ebay.com and do a search for plated cent and see if anything comes up.  Also, perhaps trying the same search at www.google.com.  The only way to be sure what you have would be to take and show it to an expert at a coin shop or a coin show.  The summer American Numismatic Association show is going on this week in Pittsburgh.  Jim Lawniczak
