Question
I recently found a 1973 Lincoln penny.  What intrigues me is its color.  Instead of being the normal copper brown it looks more like Brass.  Can you please tell me anything about it.  I can forward pictures if requested.

Thank you for taking time to read my e-mail.

Sincerely.

Heather Cook

Answer
Likely it is the usual copper than has been cleaned in a metal polish dip, which looks like brass, almost like low grade gold. It is possible that it is an off metal coin, but it would cost you $30.00 to find out at Numismatic Guarantee Corporation in Sarasota, Florida.
