Question
I was burgled in July 2006 and I am now doing my taxes and have a question.  I had a complete (every penny made) penny collection from 1909 through 1991.  I purchases the very rare ones in 1959.  If one was to assume the collect had an average quality of good, what would the approximate or range of the value.
I also had US Mint Proof sets from 1958 through 1988 and the proof gold sets from the 70's and 80's.
Woudl you please help me with an average value or range of each that I could use for tax purposes?
Thank you very much.

Answer
Hi Wayne,

If you get a copy of the 2007 Guidebook to US Coins by RS Yeoman, you will be able to see all the current selling prices of the coins you lost in the burglary.
This is probably the best and easiest way to accomplish this since you did not have a professional appraisal.
Good Luck
