Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Lincoln penny w/ Kennedy head

Question
I'm 9 years old and started coin collecting.  My Gramma gave me an old bank to go through, and I found a 1974 Lincoln penny that has a small Kennedy head stamped to the right of Lincoln's nose. Can you tell me anything about it, and if its worth anything?

Answer
Hello, Devin thanks for your question.  It is pretty amazing what you can find!  Actually, this is a pretty common piece -- someone stamped the Kennedy head after the cent was minted.  It is an interesting piece, nice for a keepsake, but really has no value (other than the one cent that the cent is worth).  Hope this helps and keep your eyes open, someday you will find a treasure!  Jim Lawniczak
