Question
Hi I found this gold coin. I don't no what type it is. It Has Like these drawings on it they kind of look like heiroglyphics.do u no what type it is?????

Answer
Hello Ryan,

Sorry, I can only tell you this is not a USA coin.
I am not an expert on foreign coins. If it is a foreign coin I use the "Standard Catalog of World Coins" for information. Every library has a copy in reference.
They are in volumes each covering a date range.  I can also recommend another expert at this site Brad Swain; He is very knowledgeable on world coins. Ask Brad Swain at:
http://www.allexperts.com/user.cgi?m=4&expID=21130&catID=2297

If it has no date or country of origin or even a denomination on it there is the possibility it is not a coin at all but a game piece or Jeton.  These were made and used as like Poker-Chips or counters in a gaming machine. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeton
And
http://www.chicagocoinclub.org/projects/PiN/juh.html

The last one has links to pictures of different types of jetons.

Sorry I could not give you more help without seeing the piece.
