Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Mercury Dimes

Question
Hello,
>
> I am Inventorying my father's coin collection.  He has quite a lot of
Mercury Dimes (489 including a good 1916 d and two 1921).  I noticed that in the red book that after 1934 there
is no values given for anything under F-12 Level.  What would G-4 and VG-8
be worth.  They must have a value over a dime I would think. In this collection there is a little of everything. I am in the process of cataloging everything.  What are your suggestions on the best way to sell this eclectic collection of coins?  I already know a dealer would take at least 45%, but then again that seems to be the easiest way out.  I live in NY and know auctions are a way out but do not know of any.  Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Wren

Answer
Hi Wren,
The dimes are worth about 70 cents each.
When you get it all cataloged, call me.  I am in NY, on Long Island and bay many many collections.
Bear in mind that Redbook is full retail value and rarely does a coin change hands at that level.  Usually it's about 40-60% of the Redbook.
I can be reached at 516-759-6960
