Question
Hello;

   My mother-in law recently found a miss stamped 1971 penny in her change. You will notice the missing "1" in 1971. I also am wondering about the "of" on the reverse. It appears to have been from the Denver mint. I was wondering what the value might be. I ca enclose 3 high resolution photos I took of it.
Thanks,
Mark

Answer
It sounds like your coin is a mint error called "struck through grease".  This happens when the die used to strike the coin has a little grease filling in the design and when it strikes the blank that design does not get struck.  This is a fairly common error and it might bring $5-10 or so.
