Question
I have some of the new Dollar coins. When you look from the side to read the mint marks on the side, ... Some have Washington head up and some the Liberty up.  I also have one that has nothing on the side at all.
Is there a striking error?

Answer
Hi Diane,

These  are not error coins and actually are about 50/50 either way.  The coin is struck and then the coins are sent in a bin to a seperate machine to add the rim designs.  It just depends which way the coin enters the chamber....heads up or down.  I hope this helps
